Position: Cold-Room Manager (Fixed Term Role)
Location: Wellington
Indigo Berries is recruiting a Cold-Room Manager to join the team.
This position will be responsible for assisting in overseeing the administration side of the operations of the cold storage facilities. This role will focus on ensuring optimal temperature and humidity levels are maintained to preserve the freshness and quality of the blueberries. The Cold-Room Manager collaborates with other teams, such as production, packaging, and logistics, to coordinate the movement and delivery of blueberries.
They are also responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, implementing cold chain management systems, and staying updated on industry best practices to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the cold room operations.
Key Performance Outputs
Monitor temperature and humidity levels in the cold room to ensure optimal conditions and report any fluctuations.
Plan and manage shits and overtime, ensuring efficient timekeeping.
Communicate with the commercial team regarding packing instructions and provide regular fruit quality feedback.
Capture and maintain production data, including location, quantity, and quality records.
Assess raw stock availability for dispatch and coordinate stock transfers within cold room locations.
Generate work orders for pallet building and assign pallet IDs.
Generate inter-company sales orders and prepare inspection documents for PPECB inspector.
Assist in the loading and unloading of blueberries into containers, ensuring proper handling.
Dispatch fruit to the packhouse and manage field-packed pallets.
Oversee inter-company return authorization and manage inventory levels.
Maintain accurate record-keeping and ensure compliance with relevant protocols and procedures.
Requirements
Qualifications / Experience
Grade 12
Ideally, experience in the same or related industry (soft fruit)
Experience working in a high-paced production facility
Computr skills: MS Excel, Word, Device Magic, Oracle Netsuite
Functional / Technical
Good Communication skills – English
Ability to work under pressure
Attention to detail
Above average computer skills – MS Excel, MS Word, Device Magic, Oracle Net Suite
Strong work ethic
Ideally, experience in a related field
Attention to detail and proficiency in data capturing and record-keeping
Knowledge of cold room operations, stock management, and Intercompany processes would be beneficial
