Role Description This full-time, on-site Coffee Equipment Technician role is based in Cape Town and focuses on maintaining and supporting coffee equipment used by VDP’s customers. The technician will perform installation, calibration, and routine preventive maintenance on coffee machines and related equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Daily tasks include diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues, replacing parts, and completing service reports and maintenance records. The role also involves responding to service calls, advising customers on correct equipment use and care, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure timely resolution of technical issues. The technician is expected to uphold high service standards, manage a service schedule efficiently, and support the overall reliability of VDP’s coffee solutions.
Qualifications
- Strong equipment maintenance skills, including experience with coffee machines or similar beverage equipment, and preventive maintenance capabilities.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and basic electrical issues, with the ability to diagnose faults and implement effective repairs.
- Experience working with heavy equipment or technical machinery, including safe handling practices and adherence to safety protocols.
- Clear and professional communication skills for interacting with customers, documenting service activities, and collaborating with internal teams.
- Relevant technical certification or training in mechanics, electrical work, or appliance servicing is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and service documentation.
- Strong organizational skills, including time management and accurate record-keeping for service and maintenance activities.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally to customer sites in the Cape Town area.
- Prior experience in the coffee, hospitality, or beverage distribution sector is an advantage but not required.
