CNC Setup Machinist – Growth Path to Lead / Shop Manager
We are a growing precision CNC machine shop in the West Palm Beach area looking for an experienced CNC machinist who wants more than just another operator position.
We are looking for someone who can become a key person in our shop: initially performing setups, troubleshooting jobs, and helping keep machines producing, with the opportunity to grow into programming, process improvement, shop leadership, and ultimately a supervisory/management role.
What You’ll Start With
- Set up CNC lathes and/or Swiss-type CNC machines
- Change over existing jobs and get them running efficiently
- Select tooling, offsets, speeds and feeds
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, finish, and dimensional problems
- Read prints and inspect your own work
- Work with operators to keep machines running and reduce downtime
- Improve existing setups and cycle times
Where the Position Can Grow
For the right person, we want this role to develop into:
- CNC programming and prove-outs
- Developing and improving machining processes
- Training and mentoring operators
- Planning setups and coordinating work between machines
- Troubleshooting production problems across the shop
- Helping establish shop standards and procedures
- Supervising CNC production
- Eventually taking responsibility for day-to-day shop-floor operations
This is an opportunity for an experienced machinist who wants to develop into a Lead Machinist, CNC Supervisor, and eventually Shop Manager as the company grows.
What We’re Looking For
We care more about practical ability, work ethic, and potential than having a management title on your résumé.
A strong candidate will have:
- CNC setup experience
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting ability
- Ability to independently get a machine from setup to good production
- Understanding of tooling, speeds/feeds, offsets, and inspection
- Ability to read prints and work to close tolerances
- Good organization and communication
- Willingness to teach and help develop less-experienced operators
- Interest in learning or expanding CNC programming skills
- Desire to take on increasing responsibility
Experience with Fanuc controls, CNC turning, Miyano machines, Citizen Swiss machines, or similar equipment is especially valuable.
You do not need to already be a shop manager. We are specifically interested in finding a strong machinist who has the ability and ambition to grow into leadership.

Full-time position – West Palm Beach / Palm Beach Gardens area
Pay: $26.00 – $31.00 per hour
