Our client, CONTROL A is currently seeking a skilled CNC Machine Operator – Woodworking Industry to join the team.  The CNC Operator will be responsible for producing quality parts according to blueprints and company quality standards as well as but not limited to complete operation and management of the CNC department including programming, setup, and machining of wood components.

Requirements & Qualifications

·       Valid driver’s license & own reliable transportation.

·       Computer literate.

·       Reliable cell phone.

·       High school diploma or equivalent.

·       Vocational training, technical school, or apprenticeship programs may be beneficial.

·       Experience in woodworking or machining will be advantageous. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

1.       Review Job Orders and Specifications

o  Interpret technical drawings, sketches, and job cards.

o  Ensure all project requirements are clearly understood.

2.       Create and Modify CAD/CAM Drawings

o  Use design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Fusion 360, VCarve, or similar) to produce or revise component drawings.

o  Convert drawings to CNC-compatible code (G-code, etc.).

3.       Program CNC Machine

o  Generate toolpaths and export appropriate code for machining.

o  Ensure proper tooling and material parameters are set in the program.

4.       Material Preparation

o  Select and prepare raw wood material (plywood, MDF, hardwood, etc.).

o  Load material onto machine bed securely and accurately.

5.       Machine Setup

o  Set up CNC machine (tooling, zeroing axes, securing fixtures).

o  Check tooling condition and perform replacements when needed.

6.       Run CNC Operations

o  Start, monitor, and oversee CNC operations.

o  Adjust machine settings if needed during runs to maintain quality.

7.       Inspect Finished Parts

o  Perform quality control using calipers, measuring tapes, and visual inspection.

o  Verify accuracy against technical drawings and make corrections if needed.

8.       Maintenance

o  Perform routine maintenance (lubrication, cleaning, replacing bits).

o  Report or troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues.

9.       Documentation

o  Maintain logs of production runs, machine usage, and maintenance.

o  Save and archive all drawings and programs for repeat orders.

10.     Department Management

o  Coordinate daily workflow and prioritize tasks.

o  Communicate with production manager and other departments.

o  Maintain inventory of tooling, materials, and consumables.

11.     Safety Compliance

o  Follow all health and safety procedures.

o  Maintain a clean and organized work area.

12.     Evaluate machine performance and plan for preventive maintenance.

13.     Train or assist other team members in CNC operations or software use.

14.     Optimize existing programs for speed and material efficiency.

15.     Research new tools or software for improved productivity
