Location
This role is based in South Africa and will be based in the Cape Town office, currently located in Century City.
Role
Description
The Cloud Architect is a key part of the Cloudbox
service framework acting as a senior technical resource for the business and escalation point for priority customer issues and incidents.
The Cloud Architect will be expected to:
Design, build, and document highly available
serverless cloud infrastructures in Azure and AWS.
Engage in pre-sales activities, including client scoping, technical discussions, and cost estimations.
Architect and implement DevOps automation using Terraform and other infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.
Provide cost management insights for Azure/AWS, optimizing cloud spending and implementing cost-reduction measures.
Develop and implement cloud service monitoring, alerting
and reporting solutions to enhance system reliability and visibility.
Mentor and train 2nd and 3rd line support teams to maintain and support the infrastructure solutions delivered.
Key
skills and Experience
Cloud platforms: Expert in Azure and AWS, with a strong understanding of serverless architectures.
DevOps & Automation: Strong hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
Containerization & Orchestration:
Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes (AKS/EKS).
Data Engineering & Cloud Storage: Experience with Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL, Databricks, Snowflake.
Cloud Cost Optimization: Hands-on experience analysing and reducing cloud costs.
Monitoring & Observability: Experience with Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, or similar tools.
Infrastructure Security:
Hands-on of IAM, networking, and cloud security best practices.
Client-facing Experience: Ability to work with pre-sales teams, engage with clients, and scope technical solutions.
