Class A CDL Driver – Underground Utility Construction
We are seeking dependable and safety-focused Class A CDL Drivers to join our underground utility construction team.
Our primary need is experienced Class A CDL drivers. Candidates with additional experience in potholing, Hydro-Vac operation, directional drilling, drill locating, Mini Excavator operation, or underground utility construction are strongly encouraged to apply.
This is a hands-on construction position. CDL drivers will be expected to safely operate company trucks and truck/trailer combinations while also assisting the crew with daily underground construction activities when not driving.
We are also willing to cross-train qualified CDL employees who are interested in learning additional equipment and advancing into positions such as CDL Potholer, Hydro-Vac Operator, Directional Drill Operator, or Drill Locator.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A CDL trucks and truck/trailer combinations
- Transport equipment, materials, trailers, and machinery to and from jobsites
- Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Properly secure equipment and loads before transportation
- Safely back, maneuver, and position trucks and trailers on active jobsites
- Assist crews with potholing and exposing existing underground utilities
- Assist with Hydro-Vac operations
- Assist with directional drilling and locating operations
- Assist with trenching, excavation, vault setting, conduit installation, and fiber pulling
- Operate equipment such as vacuums, pressure washers, demo saws, core drills, and other construction equipment when trained and authorized
- Assist with saw-cutting concrete and asphalt while following required silica-control procedures
- Safely spot and guide equipment operators, trucks, and trailers within the work zone
- Assist Foremen and crew members with daily jobsite tasks
- Maintain a clean and organized jobsite by shoveling, sweeping, and removing debris
- Clean and maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment
- Ensure tools, materials, trailers, and equipment are properly secured at the end of the shift
- Immediately report vehicle/equipment problems, accidents, utility strikes, property damage, injuries, or other safety concerns
- Perform other underground construction duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL
- Acceptable/Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Ability and willingness to safely drive trucks and pull equipment trailers
- Knowledge of proper vehicle inspections and load securement
- Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and active construction operations
- Dependable and punctual with reliable attendance
- Ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew
- Ability to perform physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lbs., with heavier team lifts as required
- Must follow all company, DOT, OSHA, and jobsite safety requirements
- Must properly wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Must be willing to work Monday through Saturday as needed
- Must be available for overtime, occasional night work, and on-call work based on project needs
- Must be willing to travel to assigned jobsites
