Food Clerk-Cashier
Part Time – Hourly
Primary Responsibilities:
Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely.
Process customer purchases quickly and accurately using an electronic cash register, scanner, and scale.
Clean register area by sweeping floors, cleaning check lanes, registers, and scales.
Prevent loss of money and merchandise through careful product handling, accurate identification of produce, and proper use of store procedures for the acceptance of various payment methods.
Ensure the safety of self, customers, and co-workers by understanding and practicing store safety rules.
Bag customer purchases quickly and correctly.
Understand the operation and safety requirements of an electronic cash register, scanner, scale, and intercom system.
Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisors and managers.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Cashiers (food clerks) report directly to the Front-End Manager or Store Manager.
Qualifications:
Above and Beyond Customer Service.
Basic Mathematics (Add, subtract, multiply, divide).
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Prior Experience in related field or industry.
Specific Tasks:
Standing capability, 4 hours minimum.
Move a maximum of 40 lbs. from 6 inches to 48 inches.
Move a maximum of 40 lbs. up to 15 feet.
Pick up items from floor/case/shelf/cart.
Retrieve merchandise on the top of grocery shelves, approximately 84 inches from the floor.
Bend and twist at the waist while cleaning, moving/removing merchandise, and loading/unloading merchandise.
Work Environment Note: Inside work with transitions of heat, cold, humidity, and dust from the opening of store entrance/exit doors.
