Overview
We are looking for a cashier/expeditor on our food truck. This is a position for someone with a good attitude and the desire to work hard and make money. The food truck is parked permanently at West Kill Brewing in West Kill NY.
Pay is $17 an hour plus tips (average is $30-$35 an hour with tips).
Responsibilities
- Operate square
- Handle cash register operations, including processing cash, credit card, and digital payments while maintaining precise cash handling procedures
- Manage customer orders by taking accurate food and beverage requests, entering orders into POS systems, and communicating effectively with kitchen staff
- Expedite food orders by coordinating between the line cook and pizza chef.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including food prep areas, cashier stations, and dining surfaces in compliance with sanitation standards
- Assist with food preparation tasks when needed, supporting culinary staff in assembling orders or handling basic food prep duties
- Upsell menu items to enhance sales opportunities while providing excellent customer service and ensuring guest satisfaction
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently during food handling and preparation processes
- Support food safety management practices by adhering to sanitation protocols and proper food handling procedures
- Engage customers with friendly service, answer questions about menu items, and promote specials or upselling opportunities
Requirements
- Previous experience in quick service or fast-food restaurant environments preferred
- Strong customer service skills with a positive attitude and excellent communication abilities
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining attention to detail
- Basic math skills for processing payments and giving correct change
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Experience operating kitchen equipment and supporting food preparation activities preferred
- Proven time management skills to ensure timely order fulfillment and customer satisfaction
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Pay: $24.16 – $32.00 per hour
