Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Echo Tech (Echocardiogram Technologist) to join our imaging team at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM. In this role, you will perform a variety of non-invasive diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures using independent judgment to capture clear, accurate images for physician evaluation.

You will work closely with cardiologists and healthcare teams to deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging, maintain patient safety and comfort, and support timely patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform echocardiographic studies, including 2-D imaging, M-mode tracings, and Doppler recordings, adhering to departmental standards and physician guidelines.
  • Direct procedures including Adult Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE), Full TTE, Limited TTE, Bubble Studies, and ultrasound enhancer administration (Note: This position does not perform vascular studies).
  • Acquire quality Stress Echo and Dobutamine images following benchmark standards, completing post-exercise image acquisition within 60 seconds or less.
  • Assist physicians with transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs), ensuring optimal imaging and patient safety.
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, proper positioning, and accurate patient identification/consents prior to procedures.
  • Accurately document preliminary reports, procedural results, and patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Prepares and maintains ultrasound equipment, supplies, and work areas to ensure readiness for patient care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to communicate changes in patient condition during procedures for timely evaluation by reading cardiologists.
  • Demonstrate competency in age-specific care, adapting imaging techniques to meet the physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of each patient.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance and comply with all facility policies and standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience:

  • 1–3 years of experience in echocardiography or cardiac sonography required. Pediatric or neonatal echocardiography experience is preferred.

Education & Primary Certification:

  • Graduation from an accredited program recognized by CHEA, USDOE, or CMA with programmatic accreditation for diagnostic medical sonography / cardiac sonography / vascular technology; OR
  • Active RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) certification required.
  • Basic Life Support: Active BCLS required within the first 7 days of employment.
  • Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Certifications:

  • RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) OR RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) preferred.
