Role Description
Business Development Manager (BDM) to spearhead sponsorship and exhibitor sales for a premier trade, logistics, and freight industry event to be held in Cape Town.. This is a hybrid role so there is no requirement to be based in Cape Town specifically..
As our BDM, you will play a pivotal role in generating high-value partnerships with leading brands across logistics, ports, shipping, insurance, banking, supply chain tech, and international trade..
You will help shape the commercial success of the event by closing sponsorship deals, onboarding exhibitors, and nurturing long-term industry relationships..
Key Responsibilities
Identify, target, and engage decision-makers and budget holders in relevant industries
Pitch tailored sponsorship and exhibition opportunities via email, video calls, and presentations
Close high-ticket sponsorship packages (Platinum, Gold, Naming Rights) and exhibitor bookings
Work closely with internal teams to manage lead pipelines, follow-ups, and CRM updates
Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, partners, and exhibitors
Track performance against sales goals and provide regular updates to the event director
Who You Are
A high-energy B2B sales pro with 3+ years in sponsorship or event sales
Strong network in shipping, logistics, insurance, finance, trade, or supply chain industries (preferred)
Excellent communicator with persuasive pitch and negotiation skills
Self-starter who thrives in performance-driven environments
Familiar with CRM tools (HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar) and LinkedIn Sales Navigator
Proven ability to close deals in excess of $10,000+
