Job Description
The Business Controller will serve as a Finance Business Partner for the designated business, collaborating closely with the Regional Financial Controller. The role involves ensuring compliance with SGS policies and standards, and maintaining high levels of customer and contract satisfaction. Candidates should demonstrate a positive, proactive attitude, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
Qualifications
Finance Business Partner for the assigned business, as defined by the Regional Financial Controller.
Collaborate with the business manager and team to understand operational structures and processes.
Assist other business controllers as needed.
Analyze and report financial risks promptly to the Regional Financial Controller.
Ensure adherence to financial procedures, internal controls, and corporate governance policies.
Develop and maintain financial reports and business plans relevant to the business.
Prepare budgets and forecasts with input from the business, analyzing various scenarios.
Conduct monthly profit and loss reviews by cost center during financial close, coordinating with finance and business teams.
Provide early warnings to the Regional Financial Controller regarding deviations from forecasted performance.
Ensure accurate calculation of Unbilled Revenue and Work in Progress for monthly approval.
Coordinate collections, track receivables, and provide net working capital comments for the assigned business.
Understand the business strategy and provide feedback to the Regional Financial Controller.
Participate in the costing process, ensuring contracts are in place, compliant, and approved.
Handle business requests such as credit applications, delinquent accounts, new suppliers, and capex investments.
Analyze business processes to identify cost-saving opportunities and provide feedback.
Comply with all quality and safety standards of the SGS management system.
Additional Requirements
Grade 12 with Mathematics, Accounting, Economics, or Business Economics/Administration.
B Com Degree.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a corporate financial environment.
Ability to adapt quickly and demonstrate flexibility.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Customer service orientation.
Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Ability to handle confidential information sensitively.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Focus on results, continuous improvement, and innovation.
Proficiency in Business English (B1 level) and good reading and speaking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
