Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and highly organised Bush Camp Coordinator & Trainer Assistant to oversee the daily operations of our field guide training campus in Kwa Zulu-Natal. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in guiding and a passion for training the next generation of field guides. You will play a dual role: managing the smooth running of the bush campus and contributing to the training and development of students through practical and theoretical guidance.

Camp Coordination:

Oversee and manage all daily operations at the bush camp, including logistics, student schedules, and facility upkeep.

Liaise with suppliers, maintenance teams, and admin support to ensure smooth functioning.

Monitor and enforce camp rules and health & safety protocols.

Provide support for emergencies, camp challenges, and student wellbeing.

Training & Facilitation:

Conduct field training sessions, bush walks, and game drives for students enrolled in programs

Mentor and evaluate students on their practical performance and development.

Participate in assessments, feedback sessions, and progress tracking.

General Duties:

Act as a role model for professional guiding conduct.

Assist with vehicle and equipment checks, maintenance, and management.

Contribute to ongoing improvements in training material, methods, and camp operations.

Foster a positive and professional learning environment.

Requirements

NQF2 or higher

Trails Guide qualification preferred or in progress.

A valid PDP and Driver’s License,

First Aid Level 1 or higher, and DEAT/THETA registration (advantageous) are required.

Previous experience in training, mentorship, or lodge management is essential, along with strong leadership, organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills. You should be comfortable with bush living and remote camp management.

Requirements
