Purpose: To lead and coordinate the visitor experience at KWV Emporium and House of Fire by delivering exceptional customer experiences, driving sales growth, and expanding tourism partnerships. The role is responsible for leading the customer-facing team, developing relationships with tour operators and tourism stakeholders, increasing visitor numbers, and ensuring the efficient administration and daily operation of the Brand Home. Through the growth of tastings, tours, pairings and other experiential offerings, the incumbent will contribute directly to the revenue and profitability of the business unit.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • A diploma in Hospitality, Tourism Management or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in hospitality, tourism, wine tourism, customer experience or sales, including experience supervising staff and engaging with tourism stakeholders.
  • Experience in sales, customer service and administration.
  • Proficiency in English, additional languages would be an advantage, especially for interacting with international guests.

  • Proven ability to build, develop and maintain strong business relationships with tour operators, tourism organizations and other key partners.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach and develop a customer-facing team.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation with a passion for delivering memorable visitor experiences.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to identify opportunities to increase visitor numbers, sales and revenue.
  • Strong sales and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong administrative and reporting skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and drive projects to completion.
  • Professional, energetic and self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience within the wine, hospitality, tourism or luxury customer experience sectors will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the Cape Winelands tourism landscape and industry networks will be advantageous.
  • Willingness to work one weekend per month, public holidays and occasional after-hours events as required.

Job Summary:

Customer Experience & Sales

• Lead and support the customer-facing team in delivering exceptional visitor experiences.

• Present premium tastings, tours and pairing experiences to local and international visitors, when needed.

• Drive sales performance across all visitor experiences and retail offerings.

• Identify opportunities to enhance visitor engagement and increase revenue.

Tourism Development & Stakeholder Management

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with tour operators, tour guides, travel agents, destination management companies and tourism organisations.

• Proactively secure new tourism partnerships to increase visitor numbers and international group bookings.

• Conduct site inspections and familiarisation visits for existing and prospective tourism partners.

• Maintain and grow the tourism stakeholder database and ensure regular communication regarding new offerings and events.

• Represent the business at relevant tourism networking events and industry engagements.

• Compile and present monthly tourism and visitor performance reports.

Team Leadership

• Supervise, coach and develop the Brand Home team to ensure high service standards and achievement of sales objectives.

• Manage daily team activities and performance.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and service standards.

Operations & Administration

• Coordinate bookings, reservations and visitor enquiries.

• Process reservations accurately and timeously.

• Manage general and financial administrative requirements for the business unit.

• Assist with events, promotions and special projects as required.

• Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the KWV Emporium and House of Fire.
