SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Branch Manager to lead and drive operational excellence within the Ocean Freight division for our Client. This role requires a strategic leader with strong financial acumen, proven people management skills, and deep knowledge of freight transportation operations.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Financial Management
- Develop and implement annual branch strategy aligned to budget.
- Monitor and report monthly performance against targets.
- Manage staff turnover in line with HR objectives.
- Achieve and exceed monthly branch budgets.
- Deliver detailed branch performance analysis and flash reporting.
Client & Business Development
- Conduct 10–20 client visits monthly.
- Lead gained/lost business reviews with sales.
- Ensure accurate call reporting and weekly sales meetings.
Operational Excellence
- Respond to escalated queries within 2 hours; resolve within 24 hours.
- Hold monthly trade lane team meetings.
- Enforce compliance with admin and service procedures.
- Maintain IT and communication system integrity.
- Oversee compliance with RCG, ISF, AMS, ICS2 and related regulations.
Culture & HR Accountability
- Drive quarterly performance discussions and deliverables.
- Manage recruitment, selection, and staff changes per HR policy.
- Ensure orientation and training of new employees.
- Oversee branch training and development initiatives.
- Participate in weekly conference calls with senior management.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of freight management systems.
- Broad understanding of Finance, HR, IT, Sales & Marketing.
- Inâdepth knowledge of freight transportation operations.
- Familiarity with labour legislation and compliance requirements.
- Commercial insurance and loss control knowledge.
- Advanced managerial, problemâsolving, and presentation skills.
- Ability to interpret financial information and manage people effectively.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12.
- Degree/Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Freight, or Transportation (NQF Level 5).
- At least 7 years’ experience in a freight environment.
- 5–10 years in a supervisory/managerial capacity.
