SUMMARY:

Our client is looking for a numerical accurate and reliable Bookkeeper who is comfortable working with numbers and maintaining precise calculations to join team.

Purpose of the role:

The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the firm and/or its clients, processing day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements, and supporting the finance team with reporting and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Record Keeping

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Record financial transactions in accounting systems.
  • Process journals, adjustments, and general ledger entries.
  • Maintain filing systems for financial documentation.

Accounts Payable and Receivable

  • Process supplier invoices and payments.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare customer invoices and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Monitor debtor and creditor age analyses.

Bank and Account Reconciliations

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.

Payroll Support

  • Ensure payroll inputs are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Maintain payroll records and employee financial documentation.
  • Support statutory payroll submissions where applicable.

Tax and Statutory Compliance

  • Assist with VAT calculations and submissions.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for tax filings and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with SARS and other statutory requirements.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly management reports and reconciliations.
  • Assist with preparation of trial balances and financial statements.
  • Ensure all transactions are accurately allocated.
  • Assist with payroll preparation and processing.
  • Provide financial information to accountants and auditors as required.

Client Service Support

  • Liaise with clients regarding financial information and documentation.
  • Respond professionally to financial queries.
  • Support client onboarding and account maintenance processes.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and client information.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with ad hoc finance and administrative tasks

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Degree/ Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2–5 years’ bookkeeping experience, preferably within an accounting firm.
  • Experience working with multiple client accounts is advantageous.
  • Experience with payroll and VAT submissions preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, reconciliations, and data analysis.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Communication and stakeholder engagement skills
