Position Summary
The Blast & Paint Technician is responsible for preparing, blasting, painting, and completing various assembly tasks on tank trailers and related equipment. The ideal candidate will have prior painting experience, strong attention to detail, good attendance, and the ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment. Sandblasting experience is preferred but not required, as hands-on training will be provided.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting and perform painting according to established paint specifications.
- Perform sandblasting as needed; training will be provided for candidates without prior sandblasting experience.
- Read and understand paint specifications and follow proper application procedures.
- Perform axle assembly.
- Install tires and air springs as needed.
- Operate a small crane safely and efficiently.
- Operate a tow motor/forklift after completing required training.
- Use small hand tools and basic equipment as needed.
- Use a creeper to work underneath trailers and equipment.
- Read and accurately use a tape measure.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of painting experience required.
- Sandblasting experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to understand and follow paint specifications.
- Basic knowledge of small hand tools.
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Ability to climb a 6-foot ladder safely.
- Ability to work underneath equipment using a creeper.
- Ability and willingness to complete tow motor/forklift training.
- Ability to safely operate a small crane after training.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Must have excellent attendance and reliability.
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb a 6-foot ladder.
- Ability to work from elevated positions and underneath trailers/equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely use hand tools and other equipment.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks associated with blasting, painting, and trailer assembly.
