An Autobody Stripper and Assembler is a specialized role in the automotive repair and manufacturing industry, focusing on stripping parts from vehicles before the respray process and assembling new or repaired parts after respray.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

Autobody Stripping:

Disassembly of Vehicles: Remove parts from vehicles, including body panels, bumpers, doors, windows, trim, and undercarriage components in preparation for a respray.

Assessment of Vehicle Parts: Examine the vehicle for any other damage that may require removal or replacement (e.g., wiring, trim, glass).

Use of Tools and Equipment: Utilize tools such as impact wrenches, grinders, and specialized hand tools to carefully dismantle vehicle components.

Preparation for Repair or Reassembly: Clean and prep surfaces and areas for the installation of new or repaired parts.

Autobody Assembly:

Assembly of New or Repaired Parts: Install replacement and old parts, including body panels, doors, bumpers, mirrors, and trim pieces.

Ensure Proper Fitment: Ensure that parts are aligned correctly, and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper fit and function.

Use of Equipment: Use pneumatic tools, wrenches, hammers, and welding equipment (if necessary) to install and secure parts.

Quality Control: Inspect parts after installation for secure fit, functionality, and aesthetic quality, ensuring that the assembly meets industry standards and customer specifications.

Collaboration with Other Technicians:

Work closely with autobody repair technicians, painters, and other specialists to ensure vehicles are prepped and assembled according to specifications.

Communicate effectively with the repair team to address any issues or challenges in the assembly process.

Safety and Cleanliness:

Follow safety protocols when handling tools, parts, and machinery.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent accidents and ensure efficient workflow.

Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of automotive body parts, tools, and techniques.

Mechanical Skills: Experience with hand tools, power tools, and equipment used for disassembly and assembly.

Attention to Detail: Ability to detect even the smallest issues with parts and assemblies.

Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to address challenges during assembly or disassembly and make necessary adjustments.

Physical Strength and Stamina: Ability to lift and maneuver heavy parts, work in tight spaces, and handle prolonged periods of physical activity.

Experience with Older Vehicles: Knowledge and experience working on older vehicles is a must due to the specific techniques and challenges these vehicles present.
