Experienced Automotive Locksmith / Key Technician
AB Recovery is looking for an EXPERIENCED Automotive Locksmith / Key Technician.
Automotive key cutting and programming experience is REQUIRED. This is not an entry-level position and we are not looking to train someone from scratch.
The right candidate must already have hands-on experience cutting and programming automotive keys for a wide range of years, makes, and models, including older vehicles and newer push-to-start/smart-key systems.
Responsibilities
- Cut and program automotive keys for all years, makes, and models
- Handle all-keys-lost situations
- Cut standard, transponder, high-security/laser-cut, remote-head, and proximity keys
- Program transponder chips, remotes, key fobs, and smart/proximity keys
- Work with domestic, Asian, and European vehicles
- Identify the correct key, chip, FCC ID, frequency, and programming procedure
- Retrieve PIN codes, key codes, and immobilizer information when needed
- Diagnose and troubleshoot vehicles that do not program normally
- Use automotive programmers, diagnostic equipment, and key-cutting machines
- Maintain key blanks, remotes, fobs, batteries, and other key inventory
- Keep equipment and work area clean and organized
- Complete keys efficiently in a high-volume environment
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Applicants must have previous professional automotive locksmith or automotive key programming experience.
You must be comfortable working independently and already know how to:
- Generate keys when no original key is available
- Cut high-security and laser-cut keys
- Program transponder keys
- Program proximity and push-to-start keys
- Work with immobilizer systems
- Determine the correct key and programming procedure for a vehicle
- Troubleshoot failed programming attempts
- Work on multiple manufacturers without requiring basic training
Experience with equipment such as Autel IM608/IM508, Smart Pro, Advanced Diagnostics, Xhorse, Key Tool, Dolphin, Condor, Triton, or similar professional automotive locksmith equipment is strongly preferred.

- Previous automotive locksmith/key programming experience REQUIRED
- Strong knowledge of automotive key and immobilizer systems
- Experience with multiple vehicle manufacturers
- Ability to work independently
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Reliable and dependable
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Valid driver’s license
- Able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
