SUMMARY:
Automotive Electrician
Location: Northern Cape – Kuruman / Hotazel
An opportunity exists for a skilled Automotive Electrician within a leading mining operation in the Northern Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the reliability of heavy earthmoving equipment in a demanding opencast mining environment.
POSITION INFO:
Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform breakdown maintenance on heavy earthmoving equipment
- Carry out planned maintenance activities as per schedule
- Conduct fault finding and electrical diagnostics on mining machinery
- Repair and replace faulty electrical components and systems
- Complete job cards and maintenance documentation accurately
- Requisition required parts and follow up on breakdowns
Technical Operations
- Install, inspect, and maintain electrical systems on mining equipment
- Diagnose and repair wiring, sensors, alternators, and starter systems
- Ensure optimal performance of equipment through preventative maintenance
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere strictly to all mine health and safety regulations
- Apply lockout and isolation procedures at all times
- Maintain safe working standards in line with site requirements
Housekeeping
- Maintain clean and organised work areas
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained
Minimum Requirements
- National Senior Certificate (Matric)
- Trade Test Certificate: Automotive Electrician (Required)
- N2 Engineering qualification in relevant field
- Minimum 3 years’ post-trade experience
- Experience working on heavy earthmoving equipment in an opencast mining environment
- Valid Driver’s License

- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams
