Job Description

Job Purpose: Coordination, prioritization of activities and effective utilization of personnel and plant in the operations at the Water and Sewer section (Touwsrivier) whilst applying contingency measures in accordance with instructions to minimize specific problems, repairs and maintenance in the water and sanitation system network.

Duties:

  • Assists the Immediate superior to co-ordinate tasks/ activities associated with the implementation of procedures and, monitoring and reporting on sequences/ outcomes.
  • Assists the Immediate superior to plan, prioritize and schedules water & sewer project and maintenance work.
  • Monitors and evaluates progress with regards to repair, construction, installation and maintenance type work (e.g. installation of underground pipelines, etc.)
  • Co-ordinates activities associated with the construction and installations of water and sewer networks.
  • Oversee the repairing of leaks and flushing units in Municipal Buildings, replacing washers, gaskets and or components and testing functionality and/or reporting defects to the immediate superior for attention.
  • Co-ordinates and controls tasks/ activities associated with controlling personnel performance, productivity and discipline.
  • Perform specific administrative tasks/ activities, delegated by the immediate superior, associated with the updating and maintaining records/ information related to the activities/operations at the Depot.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations in terms of OHS Act.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Trade Test Certificate Plumbing or equivalent technical qualification
  • Valid Code C1 Drivers’ license with PrDP
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Applications)
  • 3 years relevant experience
  • Proficiency in at least two (2) of the three (3) official languages of the Western Cape
