Job Purpose
The Assembly / Adaptation Technician is responsible for executing electrical assembly, adaptation, and related production tasks to ensure products are built accurately, safely, and in line with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The role contributes directly to production output, on-time delivery, and product quality. The role is execution-focused and operates under the direction of the Production Lead.
Job Context
The Assembly / Adaptation Technician operates on the shop floor within the Operations function and works closely with other technicians, the Production Lead, Quality & HSE, and Warehousing. The role requires adherence to defined work instructions, safety procedures, and quality requirements.

Responsible use and care of tools, equipment, and materials payment & other authorisations as per approved Delegation of Authority.
Key Accountabilities
Assembly & Adaptation
- Perform electrical assembly and adaptation work in line with drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and work instructions
- Assemble, wire, and fit electrical components accurately and efficiently
- Carry out general assembly and fitment of Ring Main Units into enclosures
- Use hand tools, fixtures, jigs, and basic power tools correctly and safely
- Prepare and verify parts and materials required for assigned tasks
- Achieve daily and weekly production targets and support overall team output
Quality & Inspection
- Conduct first-line self-inspection to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Identify, record, and report defects, faults, and non-conformances promptly
- Support Quality and HSE inspections, audits, and testing activities as required
- Participate in corrective actions to prevent recurrence of quality issues
Testing & Technical Support
- Perform general electrical testing in line with defined procedures
- Assist with fault-finding and rework activities where required
- Escalate technical issues to the Production Lead or Quality team timeously
Health, Safety & Housekeeping
- Comply fully with all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in line with 5S principles
- Identify, report, and help mitigate unsafe conditions or behaviours
- Actively contributes to a strong safety-first culture on the shop floor
Materials & Equipment Support
- Perform basic material handling related to production activities
- Safeguard tools, equipment, and fixtures and report any defects or maintenance needs
- Ensure correct use and storage of equipment to prevent damage or loss
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge
- Electrical Artisan, N4 or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings.
Minimum Experience
- 2–5 years’ experience in electrical assembly or production roles.
- Experience in switchgear or similar electrical products is advantageous.
