Apprentice Diesel Mechanic Jobs in Home Based at Universal Paper and Plastics (Pty) Ltd
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs duties of a trained diesel mechanic looking to expand their knowledge by being involved in the inspecting, repairing, and maintaining of petrol/diesel/electric forklifts, reach trucks, fleet vehicles, diesel generators, and tractors. Servicing of all vehicles or equipment.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR
MAJOR ACTIVITIES / PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Productivity ï€ Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
ï€ Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades
ï€ Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
ï€ Track time worked on each vehicle by type of repair and using standard time estimates based on industry standards. Identify and respond to inquiries where actual times vary from estimated times. Complete appropriate reporting on vehicle repairs and maintenance to manager.
ï€ Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
ï€ Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
ï€ Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
ï€ Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock and verifying receipt.
ï€ Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading and understanding technical and regulation publications.
ï€ Schedule and arrange for outsourcing of repairs if necessary.
ï€ Respond to service calls.
ï€ Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
N2 in related trade theory
Must have institutional (workshop) training
WORKING CONDITIONS
Based in Ga-Rankuwa with working hours from 07:00 till 17:00 Monday to Thursday and 07:00 till 14:30 Friday.
Will be expected to assist with breakdowns and call outs after hours when required.

Contract length: 18 months
Pay: R8Â 000,00 – R8Â 500,00 per month
