What We Are Looking For

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Analytical Chemist will be responsible for routine and non-routine analysis that are accurate, reliable, timely and according to the approved specifications and methods in order to support production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Routine and non – routine analysis on all products and raw materials.
  • Work shifts to support continuous production if required.
  • Must be able to work overtime on short notice.
  • Gravimetric and volumetric analysis.
  • Operation of specialized instrumentation (Chromatography and Spectroscopy Analysis).
  • Accountable for laboratory administration and interaction with plant personnel.
  • Calibration and verification of laboratory equipment.
  • Capable of interpretation of data and sentencing.
  • Adhere to quality and safety requirements.
  • Good housekeeping and responsible waste management.
  • Adheres and implements Rheinmetall Denel Munitions Policies and Procedures and ensures compliance to ISO Standards with respect to SHE/Quality/Environmental/Energy.

What Qualifications You Should Have

  • National Diploma in Chemistry or NQF 6 equivalent qualification.
  • BTech/BSc qualification in Chemistry would be advantageous.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Chemistry discipline.
  • Experience working in explosive environment will be advantageous.
  • Good verbal and written communication.
  • Self-motivated and independent.
  • High standard of workmanship.
  • Good planning and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work under pressure.
  • Good interpersonal skills and coordinating capability.
  • Must be computer literate (Ms Packages).
