Job description
SKAGGS is a long standing, family owned retail business specializing in public safety uniforms and equipment for the men and women that protect and serve our home front and those that supply safe transportation throughout our community.
Police Agencies, Fire Departments, Transportation Officials and other safety and security related businesses depend on SKAGGS to professionally uniform and equip their Police Officers, Fire Fighters and working professionals. SKAGGS offers customization of each uniform to fit the need of our customers.
We are looking for dedicated, detail oriented and professional employees to help us serve our specialty customers in a fast-paced environment.
BUSINESS hours are MONDAY – FRIDAY 8:30am am to 5:00pm, CLOSED SATURDAYS and SUNDAYS and MOST holidays.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Perform uniform sewing, alterations, and embellishments with accuracy and efficiency. These items include, but are not limited to, lengthening, shortening, tapering, adjusting waist, hemming, applying patches, and replacing buttons/zippers/etc.
- Read and accurately identify the customer’s needs, per work instructions, while meeting production deadlines
- Ability to take necessary measurements and mark garments for alterations to meet the demands of our customers
- Operate industrial sewing machinery
- Prepare alterations for pick-up; this includes: pressing, steaming, and hanging
REQUIREMENTS
- Perform friendly, courteous, tactful relations with customers and co-workers with composure in a high volume, fast-paced setting
- Communicate (hearing, speech, reading and writing – English) in order to read orders and communicate with customers
- Experience in alterations
- Experience in uniform alterations – preferred
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
- Ability to bend, stretch, stoop, twist, and lift items up to 10lbs
Pay: $19.00 – $21.00 per hour
