Job Description
A leading organisation is searching for an Agronomy Manager to lead the agronomic, technical, and marketing strategy for its fertilizer and biostimulant portfolios in South Africa.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute agronomic and marketing strategy, aligning portfolio positioning with local market needs and regulatory requirements
Translate agronomic insights into differentiated product positioning, technical training, and field-ready solutions for South African cropping systems
Lead marketing strategy, pricing, segmentation, and go-to-market approaches for the portfolio
Provide strategic direction for field execution, equipping sales teams with playbooks and value-selling frameworks
Shape innovation pipelines with R&D based on agronomic needs and market gaps
Oversee deployment of digital agronomy platforms and drive precision agriculture strategy
Partner cross-functionally with business units, R&D, and regulatory teams, and represent the organisation at industry forums
Mentor and develop agronomic and marketing talent
Requirements:
PhD in Soil Science, Agronomy, or Crop Science
8–10 years’ relevant experience in agronomy, crop nutrition, or related technical-commercial roles within agriculture
Demonstrated experience developing and executing agronomic strategies that drive commercial growth
Strong track record translating scientific principles into practical, field-ready solutions, particularly within fertilizer and/or biostimulant portfolios
Proven ability to engage growers, agronomists, and commercial teams, influencing adoption and building partnerships
Experience in horticultural and/or high-value cropping systems, and integrated crop nutrition approaches, advantageous
