Location: Franschhoekvallei
The After-school Program Coordinator will lead the planning, preparation, and delivery of stimulating educational activities for children in Grade R to Grade
3. This role involves streamlining school projects and homework, and promoting positive behaviour, while using a variety of teaching styles, including Montessori methods. The ASC will organise school visits, snack preparation, holiday programs, and promote sustainabilityeducation practices.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDES BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Activity Planning and Delivery:
Coordinate planning, preparation, and delivery of purposeful and meaningful activities for children in the After-school program.
• Homework Support:
Assist children with school projects and homework, ensuring they understand and complete their assignments and report to parents on progress.
• Behaviour Management:
Promote positive behaviour management, establish routines, and set boundaries to ensure the safety and good behaviour of the children.
• Teaching Styles:
Select various resources and teaching styles, including a Montessori-inspired approach. Be knowledgeable about the primary school’s Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS) curriculum.
• Boschendal Visits:
Organise and conduct school visits to Boschendal for children and teachers from local schools in the valley, focusing on CAPS support and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
• Local School Visits:
Visit local schools to focus on Agricultural Management, Conservation, Natural Sciences, and Geography, linking activities to the CAPS curriculum.
• Holiday Programs:
Organise and facilitate holiday and public holiday programs with engaging and educational activities.
• International Client Support:
Coordinate Boschendal’s CSI projects when they visit the Excelsior Learning Hub.
• SustainabilityPromotion:
Promote the importance of Soil, Soul, and Community, referring to the Sustainability Goals.
• Vegetable Garden:
Liaise with the school gardener and design activities around planting and healthy eating habits. This will include the hydroponics garden.
QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS:
• Matric
• Diploma in Education or relevant qualifications
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
• Experience working with children in educational setting
• Experience working in outreach is advantages
