Some of the Accountant’s key duties and responsibilities:
Compilations and Independent Reviews in terms of IFRS for SMEs and Accounting Officers’ engagements and Trust Compilation Engagements
Prepare budgets for approval by manager or partner before beginning work
Capture client financial information on Xero or Caseware
Process relevant year-end journal entries
Prepare Trial Balance
Prepare Tax calculations, tax recons and VAT recons
Prepare quality working paper file, which meets the standards of the Firm on Caseware
Draft quality annual financial statements by the applicable accounting practice on Caseware
Technical Performance and Financial Performance
Ensure that allocated engagements are completed within the approved budget depending on the issues encountered
Ensure that all budget overruns are communicated timeously to the partner or manager
Perform a quality compilation, independent review, accounting officers’ engagement and Trust engagement
Perform a detailed review of the working papers, which meets the standards of the firm
Write-Ups

Qualifications/Skills/Technical Abilities Required:
SAICA or AGA(SA) qualification (required)
Accounting Degree
5 – 10 years experience in the professional services industry (accounting/audit)
Have excellent knowledge of IFRS for SMEs
Experience in compilations and independent review engagements and drafting of AFS
Excellent skills in MS Excel and CaseWare (drafting)
Ability to communicate confidently with clients and colleagues
Fluent in English both verbally and written
Deadline-driven, attention to detail
Excellent personal time management
Xero experience beneficial but not required
