We are a dynamic fractional CFO, accounting, valuation, tax and fundraising firm, with our CFOs based in the USA and our accounting team in South Africa. We specialize in providing high-level financial strategy and comprehensive accounting solutions to businesses across a range of industries. As we expand our operations, we are looking to make our first critical hire in South Africa. The two founders have significant experience in the financial and startup sector including having started successful businesses in the past.
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-driven Junior Accountant or CA to join our growing South Africa-based team. The ideal candidate will manage full-cycle accounting functions for our clients and collaborate with US-based CFOs and controllers to deliver high-quality financial support. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing firm supporting some of the most innovative startups globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and month-end closing processes.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Oversee accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), bill payments, and payroll processing.
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
- Collaborate with US-based CFOs and controllers to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Manages self-reliantly , able to project manage your own portfolio of clients.
- Manages a client portfolio independently, demonstrating strong project management skills.
- Possesses the ability to manage client relationships and stakeholder communication comprehensively.
- Consistently meet month-end deadlines.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Accountant, Controller, or in a similar accounting role.
- Candidates should have three years of article experience and one year of post-article experience.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial statement preparation.
- Experience working with startups is a plus.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage and other accounting tools
- Familiarity with payroll and bill pay platforms (e.g., Gusto, Bill.com, Ramp & Brex).
- The ability to work independently and proactively solve problems.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
