Financial Accountant

A fast-paced, established, and reputable Liquor and FMCG Distribution Company is seeking a Financial Accountant to assist in their finance department. This is a contract position based in

Stellenbosch providing support and to our companies in Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho and Botswana.

Duties And Responsibilities Include

ï‚· Monthly Creditors:

Management of creditors system (ensuring all creditors processed accurately and paid

timeously).

Ensuring VAT compliance of supplier invoices.

Supervision of creditor clerks in country.

ï‚· Monthly Payrolls

Payroll masterfile maintenance and setup.

Preparation, review and reconciliation of payrolls.

Preparation and submission of payments (medical aid, provident fund, salaries) and

contribution schedules.

Preparation and submission of statutory payments and returns.

ï‚· Monthly Withholding Taxes

Preparation and submission of statutory payments and returns.

ï‚· Monthly VAT, Deferred VAT And Alcohol Levy

Monthly reconciliation of VAT/Alcohol levy.

Preparation and submission of statutory payments and returns.

ï‚· Monthly GL Reconciliation Files

Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts (every month is a year-end).

Bank reconciliations.

Stock revaluation.

Review of income statement against budget, investigation of variances and accruals.

ï‚· Monthly management accounts.

ï‚· Other Annual/Adhoc Responsibilities

Setting up of annual budgets.

Assisting with drafting of internally compiled annual financial statements.

Assisting with tax provisional and annual tax computations.

Assisting with other annual statutory submissions e.g. Annual PAYE/WHT reconciliations.

Adhoc internal auditing.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

ï‚· SAIPA/SAICA articles/qualification preferable.

ï‚· Broad, hands-on exposure to all fields related to above duties and responsibilities.

ï‚· A good working knowledge of VAT and Tax (including Employees Tax).

ï‚· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel (Advanced level excel preferable – vlookups, pivots

etc).

ï‚· Hands-on experience in Payspace, VIP and Draftworx would be advantageous.

ï‚· Decent knowledge of IFRS.
