Position: Account Manager (Sales) – Public & Municipalities Agencies and Parastatals (Ref: 23841)

Purpose of role:
The Account Manager is responsible for promoting the company, its products, and solutions while enhancing client relationships and market presence, particularly within the Public Sector, Municipalities, Agencies, and Parastatals. This role involves managing existing accounts, generating new business opportunities, and achieving defined sales targets. The Account Manager must understand the client’s operational landscape, decision-making processes, and strategic direction, while providing continuous support, updates, and after-sales service.

A strong focus is placed on pipeline management, market analysis, and client engagement through regular visits, calls, and strategic follow-ups.

Key Responsibilities:

Market the Company, its Products, Solutions, and continuously improve the Client’s perception of the Company.

The Account Manager must have a good understanding of the following:

Client Organisational Structure, Client Environment, Client decision-making process, Client’s KPIs, Client Projects, and Strategic direction.

Understand the Client’s Procurement cycles and processes, and the competitive landscape.

Provide Clients with continuous Product and Solutions updates.

Manage current Clients daily and generate new business.

Achieve Quarterly and Annual Sales Targets.

Maintain and grow market share within the Public & Municipalities, Agencies, and Parastatals Sector.

Provide weekly feedback on pipelines, quotations, and strategic initiatives for projects.

Conduct and submit monthly sales forecasting.

Update Sales Tools and relevant systems, along with the Customer Information Sheet.

Make client calls and physical visits—at least once every 2 weeks, with a minimum of 12 client visits per week.

Make telephonic client calls at least once a week, with daily call planning on all accounts.

Prepare and provide clients with quotations on request.

Follow up on quotations bi-monthly.

Keep clients updated on deliveries and order progress as needed.

Handle deliveries if required.

Provide after-sales support.

Follow up on invoices and payments.

Attend weekly debtors’ meetings.

Attend product training sessions and ensure internal training is quarterly.

Participate in sales meetings and marketing events.

Assist with tenders as required.

Qualifications

Required:

Senior Certificate (essential).

Relevant qualification (preferred).

Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in a senior sales position within the Public & Municipalities, Agencies, and Parastatals Sector.

Technical knowledge of products including VOIP, Audio Visual, Video Conferencing, WIFI, Networking, Client Computing & Data Centre Solutions (e.g., Avaya, Microsoft, Crestron, Extron, Poly, CISCO, Huawei, Yealink, Audio Codes, HP, Dell, VMware).

Achieved a target performance of over 75% in the past 3 years.

Existing client base.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate level or higher, with emphasis on Excel).
