Role Summary:
This role requires a technically strong individual with extensive fibre planning experience and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, design, and coordination of FTTH/FTTx fibre network infrastructure projects, including route planning, transmission planning, construction drawings, wayleave management, and asset management support.
Responsibilities:
- Design and plan FTTH/FTTx fibre access networks
- Conduct fibre route and transmission planning
- Prepare and review construction drawings and implementation plans
- Compile BOQs, BOMs, feasibility studies, and project budgets
- Perform GIS capturing and network planning using QGIS, MapInfo, and related systems
- Manage and maintain network asset management records
- Prepare and track municipal and provincial wayleave applications
- Survey and plan civil, aerial, and fibre optic infrastructure projects
- Conduct quality assurance on contractor plans, estimates, and construction drawings
- Coordinate with Operations Managers, contractors, and project teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Maintain accurate planning documentation and reporting
- Ensure compliance with OHAS legislation and company standards
Qualifications Required:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Engineering, Electronics, Civil, or related fields
Work Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within the telecommunications industry
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in transmission and fibre network planning
- Extensive practical experience in FTTH/FTTx planning and implementation
- Strong understanding of municipal by-laws and wayleave processes
