Maintenance Electrician Technician

Summary/Objective:

To support manufacturing operations by maintaining, trouble shooting and repairing all facilities and manufacturing equipment in a safe and orderly fashion. Additionally, responsible for installing, inspecting, testing and repairing electrical fixtures along with building the full electrical system for specialty machinery as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that molds and machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
  • Set up, install, and repair machinery and equipment.
  • Fabrication and upkeep of parts and tools
  • Repair or replace defective equipment, and record maintenance and repair work performed, and the cost of work.
  • Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Set up and operate machine and adjust controls that regulate operational functions to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches to precision measuring instruments, and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Maintain department repair parts stock and inventory.
  • Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Lubricates, oils, or applies adhesive or other material to molds, machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
  • Replaces or repairs metal, wood, leather, glass, or other lining in machine or equipment compartments or containers.
  • Cleans machine and machine parts, using cleaning solvent, cloth, air gun, hose, vacuum, or other equipment.
  • Removes hardened material from machine or machine parts, using abrasives, power and hand tools, jackhammer, sledgehammer, or other equipment.
  • Collects and discards worn machine parts and other garbage to maintain machinery and work areas.
  • Install, maintain, and enhance electrical systems and components in automated cells, including switches, sensors, and wiring
  • Inspect, test, and diagnose issues with electrical systems and components
  • Perform all work in a manner that meets and follows electrical codes, blueprints, and US Engineering standards
  • Hanging completed electrical panels/boxes
  • Hanging brackets
  • Pulling wire/cables
  • Laying cable tray
  • Wring electrical panels
  • Managing onsite installation of equipment at customer’s facility
  • Follow all company safety protocol

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret, work instructions, blueprints
  • Working knowledge of electrical theory, and the associated principles, materials, and equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to operate hand and power tools associated with electrical work
  • Ability to maintain project documentation
  • Experience with updating prints
  • Ability to carry out written or oral instructions
  • Use an objective approach toward decision making
  • Ability to maintain a good relationship between the company and customer
  • Experience working with engineering
  • Experience and understanding of the automation industry
  • Ability to manage onsite installation of equipment at the customer’s facility
  • Knowledge of the electrical code
  • Experience with electrical Panel Build

This position requires a minimum of an eight-hour day on company premises for five days a week with some overtime.

Education Required/ Preferred

Associates Degree in related field and or minimum of 5 years equivalent experience within industrial electrical maintenance field.

Electrical Journeyman or Master Electrician License

Able to read & interpret complex patterns and blueprints

Able to identify and fix root cause failures

Demonstrated ability* Able to diagnose & troubleshoot all equipment within the plant. Willing and able to train others withing the maintenance department.
